Two tickets have been issued to the teenage driver involved in an accident that killed a 16-year-old girl last week.
The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office ticketed Kevin Bouley, the driver of a car that collided with a bus, resulting in the death of Sarah E. Smith.
Bouley was ticketed for failure to yield right of way at a stop sign and operating in violation of restrictions. Bouley, 16, had a restricted license. He violated the terms of his limited use junior operator's license, the investigation revealed.
He drove a 2000 Ford Escort from Town Hall Road into the path of a Centro bus traveling down Route 20 on Sunday, Oct. 28. Both he and passenger Ashly M. Januska were treated for injuries at University Hospital in Syracuse. Smith was thrown from the car and was pronounced dead at Auburn Memorial Hospital.
The investigation also revealed the Central bus was traveling slower than the speed limit of 55 mph at the time of the collision, according to the report. The bus driver, Dawn M. French, 51, suffered minor injuries. None of the nine bus passengers reported injuries.
