The Institute for the Application of Geospatial Technology and Cayuga Community College are teaming up to present Cayuga County GIS Day.
GIS Day, held on Nov. 14 at the campus of CCC, 197 Franklin St., Auburn, brings a forum for users of geographic informations systems technology to demonstrate real-world applications that are being used in society and to promote awareness of GIS.
The event will feature a poster gallery from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., displaying various GIS projects from different organizations, agencies and educational institutions from around the community. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., organizers will hold one-hour sessions for middle and high school students and teachers to learn and explore GIS through presentations and hands-on activities.
A general open house for the community in CCC's GIS Lab will be available from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., which includes a short presentation on GIS and its real-world applications.
Organizers are asking for those interested in attending the middle school or high school sessions to reserve a spot.
Contact Jessie Wilson or Amy Work at 252-8669 or at jwilson@iagt.org or awork@iagt.org.
