Q. What is the most rewarding part of your job?
A. Seeing patients realizing they are progressing.
Q. What is the most challenging?
A. Insurance companies and paperwork.
Q. Describe your ideal patient.
A. Anyone who is willing to work to make themselves better. I can instruct someone in exercises, but they have to put forth the effort.
Q. When you're sick, would you want someone like you to be your doctor?
A. Sure. I'm a good listener and can give advice that is helpful.
Q. What is the best piece of advice you could give someone to stay healthy?
A. Keep moving and eat nutritious meals.
Q. What's the most common misconception you hear from patients?
A. That there has to be pain before they can get better.
Q. If you weren't in the health care field, what career or field would you do?
A. I have always wanted to be a physical therapist. So I am not sure.
Q. For someone considering a career like yours, what advice would you offer?
A. Observe at different types of clinics; e.g. outpatient, rehabilitation, hospitals, nursing homes, etc.
Q. What's your ideal cure for the common cold?
A. Lots of rest, fluids and vitamin C. Steamy showers or hot tea help open the sinuses.
Q. In your opinion, which medical TV show is most realistic? Which is your favorite?
A. I don't know. I haven't seen physical therapy properly depicted on TV or in movies. My favorite show is “ER.”
Q. Despite being in the health care field, people would probably be surprised that when I'm off the job, I _________.
A. Fix things around the house.
