G.H. Gregg and his force of carpenters, comprising of Elmer Savercool, William Emmett, Charles Peckham and Dorr Lester, have completed a large barn for Matthew Riley in the northern part of the town of Moravia. The building measures 34 by 86 feet. The siding is cypress, and 41,000 shingles were used.

SENNETT - Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse opened Wednesday to fanfare, cutting of a board instead of the traditional ribbon and thank yous to local officials who helped make the moment happen. Representatives from Sennett and Auburn were present to celebrate the grand opening of the North Carolina-based company's giant store next to Wal-Mart on Grant Avenue.

AUBURN - Rob Outhouse and Frank Piorkowski may have started out their contest for Cayuga County sheriff with subdued campaigns, but Tuesday, just a week before Election Day, the contest became a confrontation. Outhouse said that, of the two candidates, only he has the training and the experience necessary to lead the sheriff's department, and that he is better prepared that Piorkowski. Piorkowski charged that the department is mismanaged and that he's the man to “straighten it out.”
