Two Cents

If George Cuthbert is so concerned about who is Auburn's mayor, maybe he should move back into the city. Mike Quill is a representative for the working man and woman.
Who's the real brainiac at AMH that came up with the idea to replace their experienced, dedicated LPNs with RNs at the nursing home? It really can't be to save money.

The music for Tuesday's “welcome home” ceremony was performed by members of the Auburn Civic Band.

Like Arnold said, and now the crows --- I'll be back!

The picture of the singer in the Oct. 21 Citizen is one of the reasons to tear down Schine Theater and spend the money on our young students in the area schools and help them with their productions. The $3 million can be used by area schools where there is great talent to be discovered.

Recently a person commented in the Two Cents column that Tom Weed has 40 years of public service as opposed to his opponent having none. Any person with 40 years of public service will not be financially a friend of us taxpayers.

When the next fire department contract comes up, have 12 man shifts and three on call. That's your 15-man shift.

" OK, Of the three Mayor's race candidates your asking me to vote for A) Someone who just LOVES the attention and Photo's of Himself in Our Newspaper-- Baby Kisser B) A Man who has lost everything and is always trying to right His wrong. It's a tangled web We weave. Ouch!! C) A man who took us down the wrong road just to stay on the good side of His Department. Sold Us and now wants to play both sides. Take the High road out-of town you've cost US enough!! "

" "justventing" here's the problem with politics and promises--you have one person who wants to change a law that would be for the better BUT he has to answer 5 others and only 3 total agree--TIE no one wins! So he/she hasn't a snowballs chance to change anything! now the government: The House of Representatives has 435 voting members The Senate has 100 members and the President is 1..so in a much larger scale how can one PROMISE to get ANYTHING done when he needs when he needs 357 people to agree??? "

" Politicians attempt to twist the facts to suit their own needs. This is what Mike Bass is attempting to do in the DA's race. However, he underestimates the knowledge of the citizens of Cayuga County. Budelmann for DA, vote maturity and experience! "

" Will ya get a grip on wanting to tear down the Schine Theatre or complaining that it costs too much? Cripes, do u honestly think the majority of citizens would want the 3 mill spent on the schools anyway? - I dont. The city would waste at least 1/6th of it on some out of town agency for a feasability study then the cash would evaporate. Just be patient and one day you will walk thru those doors and know why the theatre-which cant be torn down as its on the register-was saved! Geez "

" Although George Cuthbert does not live in Auburn. He is entitled to promote who he wants for mayor since his business in AUBURN provides many jobs to the people of AUBURN and he also pays a boat load of taxes for his building he owns in AUBURN. I'm sure if Auburn had desireable empty lots to build new houses George and all the others living in Owasco developments would have done so. Is there any place in Auburn to build a NICE new home? "

" I would like to know myself who the "brainiac" was that came up with the idea to replace the LPN's with RN's at the FLCL to save money? I too worked at the facility as an LPN until fall of "05" and I can personally vouch for my then coworkers that we all worked very hard, took our jobs seriously difficult as it may have been at times, but leaving at the end of the day or night feeling rewarded that we helped folks to feel better in one way or another. Now I'm not trying to imply that the RN doesn't do their job well but lets face it they get paid way more and it's not perse the "acute" setting. To use the excuse to save money sounds like just another slap in the face to the way experienced and extremely dedicated LPN's whose job is far from easy. To the "brainiac" is your money saving technique working? and if so how do the residents & their family members feel about the changes? "

" I am sure by now most of you are aware of all the positions coming up for elections I suggest we start something new. I hope some if not all of the candidates are reading this. When you are elected, you are elected on your promises’ you made to the people. The people in turn believing your promises elect you by a majority count. My question to you is what guarantee do we the people have that you will keep your promises? Up to now we have none, only words. I suggest you have a legal contract drawn up, documenting your promises, and if effect you do not keep them you are to leave your position within 2 years. I see no problem with this, as you were elected by people believing your promises and it’s only fair, and legal that you keep them. So candidates start writing. If you show me a legal paper with your promises I will vote for you. "
