Ducayne is blind to realities of the world

Saturday, October 27, 2007 11:32 PM EDT

I confess that, yet again, I am dumbfounded by what mental processes Judy Ducayne puts her obviously befuddled brain through to come up with arguments as completely disconnected and incoherent as the latest one where she attempted to defend her blind habit of voting exclusively “Pro-Life.”
Judy obviously is impervious to logic or facts, as she holds to the fantasy that only a pro-life person could ever “make sound value judgments about the guilt or innocence of anyone standing accused of a crime.” I guess she didn#'t read the letter I posted months ago about the bloodthirsty regime of George Bush#'s Texas governorship and his notoriously corrupt and error-filled record of record numbers of death-row executions - of sometimes proven-innocent people. He even joked about a few of them. Then she tries to conflate a “pro-life” stance with two politicians who acted with urgency on a matter of civil engineering. HUH?! The Citizen editors, I ask you with utter seriousness; are you sure that your Tuesday columnist is any longer even dealing with a full deck?

But most disturbingly, Judy sounds the alarm to stop Planned Parenthood, an organization which provides not only safe abortions to women who cannot possibly afford another child, but more importantly, medically sound, correct information on contraception options and reproductive health-free of the ideological hogwash which characterize the Religious Right's pathetic, contemptible efforts to control the Reproductive Rights conversation - especially to the young and naive. You know, it would almost be funny - was it not so serious. The very first step in preventing unwanted pregnancies and therefore, abortion, is through knowledge, education, and most importantly, responsible, consistent use of highly-effective contraceptives. Ducayne used to be just a serious annoyance, but now her tripe is becoming dangerous misinformation. Enough already!

" AJ I never said abstinence should be the sole preventor of teenage pregnancy. I did agree that those programs have helped cut down on teenage pregnancy. Condoms however are not a sole safeguard for pregnancy or STDs either! NONE of which have to do with religion-as I have stated before I was born and raised Catholic but I do not agree with all catholic preachings. I had a sister who was having sex a 13 and I raged a huge argument with parents on the subject of birth control.I won. In rebellion she stopped taking it at 16--got pregnant-moved out-quit school-and her life has been in shambles ever since. AGREE no one can control teens when it comes to sex-BUT I atleast didnt have a prego sis at 13-14-15. "

" Hmm, so cm, you say condoms are not 100% effective against STD's or pregnancy. We can agree on that. But you have to admit that abstinence only programs are a failure too, because most teens are going to have sex whether you like it or not, with or without abstinence programs. Sorry, that's the nature of biology. CM, you are way short on logic and reason, and way too hung up on religious dogma. "

" Oh and MTV is a great source of proven stats! what a joke! Believe it or not there are some many mothers who tell the state to take their child and do whatever because they are so out of control and traumatize the rest of the family..I speak to many on this subject and trust me on John Couey's execution day there will be many tailgate parties thru the state of florida! "

" Karl...I agree with you 100% on Mrs. Ducayne. An awful columnist - completely uninformed. Why I'm writing is to direct you to an article in this week's New York Times Magazine about the collapse of the evangelical right as a political force. Their leadership, politics, and politicians have all failed and the rank and file in the evangelical right have disowned them. It's a good read and a step in the right direction for our voters. "

" Sorry, cm, but if there's anyone here steeped in BS, it's you--I have been following the "Abstinence" fraud very closely for literally years--I've written many letters on it right here--and I can tell you that you are completely WRONG about abstinence campaign being responsible for lower pregnancy rates. The evidence is just too strong on the FAILURE of "Abstinence Only". What HAS helped are the counter-movements by independent organizations like MTV who have recognized the ineffectiveness and launched massive PR campaigns in favor of condoms. Please do your research before making another emotional but error-filled post. I must remark that your comment about the "tailgate party" is despicably cruel and heartless- how do you think that guy's mother feels? But typical from what I would expect of you... "

" Thanks tweetyhaert49! Mr "zapped"--your children have more to fear from the likes of Ms Ducayne and you then they do from me. At least MY kids will grow up without ignorance! And by the way--YOU STILL HAVE NOT RESPONDED TO MY QUESTION ABOUT CLARIFYING WHAT EXACTLY IN MY LETTER HERE WAS "ANTI-GOD" OR "IMMORAL"--I guess you're just speaking out of your A$$ again huh? "

cm wrote on Oct 28, 2007 11:10 PM:

" Teenage pregnancy IS lower than it was-so the abstinence ads have helped. AS for condoms they are not a 100% guarantee for either birth control or STD's..and finally Karl please do get neutered and save the world from another you! "

cm wrote on Oct 28, 2007 11:04 PM:

" When peoples use the term "pro-life" they are refering to saving the life of an unborn child/fetus NOT the executions of psychopaths like Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer and Harold Shipman and the hopefully soon to be executed sex offender John Couey! Now if Pres.Bush and those like him want to execute skums like those listed above he/they have my support ALL THE WAY! Heck I would pay money/have a tail-gate party if they would televise them!!! "

" I feel the need to REPEAT myself as karl did from 10/24!!! AS USUAL NOTHING NEW BUT THE SAME BS! cm wrote on Oct 27, 2007 8:28 PM: " I disagee with abortions being used a method of birth control over and over with taxing paying dollars. Yet I do feel these protestors that stand in front of Planned Parenthood are nothing but hypocrites-for they rant save a life yet there are hundreds of homeless children in the USA in need of a good home. If they want to save a child BEGIN at a foster home-a good percentage of these kids tend to be the next in line for abortions! " "

" I couldn't care less if you are running for public office Mr Yikes. I never asked you that question. You however seem to have me confused with some one else, but with that said, you can continue to support Mr Karl, I guarantee he is in the minority. We love our community Mr Yikes, we love our God and we want our children to grow up safe. It's a shame you don't feel the same way "

" It really wasn't difficult at all Zap. It was just something about religion, homosexuals and monkey wrenches that just seemed to filter over from one post to another. It was an obvious mistake on your part. But, don't worry, your secret is safe with me. Oh yes, one other thing. Where I live is really none of your business. I'm not running for elected office. Toodles!!! "

" mayharuka--I back up my opinins with facts veeeery carefully, and if I'm wrong, I am the first to admit it, as I did a few weks ago in response to "Farmer's Gal'. Did you "google" my facts about George Bush's Reign of Terror in Texas? About the injustice for which Texas was notorious under Bush's tutelage? How about the facts about the utter failure of "Abstinence" campaigns? And the PROVEN effectiveness of condoms? Sorry to say it, May, but your judgement and perspective is undeniably clouded by your own prejudice and hatred--your last post just made that very clear! Oh, and BTW, sorry you don't understand what "marketing" is either! "

" "zapped", let's try something different here; let's leave behind the partisan, parochial rhetoric for a few minutes and let me ask you, with utter sincerity and seriousness; what exactly do you find "anti-god" or "immoral" about this rebuttal to Judy? I seriously challenge you to list your objections here and now; if you can't do that then kindly FOAD. Am I "anti-god" because I seek to protect the innocent and naive from the LIES and misleading rhetoric used by the profiteering Religious Right in these past 7 years to push PROVEN-INEFFECTIVE "Abstinence" campaigns? These programs have been shown to PROMOTE ignorance and RAISE STD and teen pregnancy rates by spreading deliberately FALSE information! Do your research, please, "zapped", OK?! Am I "immoral" because I promote the idea that the best and PROVEN way to protect our kids is to educate them with FACTS and real information about sex and its consequences--as well as the BEST way to prevent unwanted consequences? If that be your charge, then I'd like to hear what fantasy you labor under that would prove more effective; don't forget--your "Abstinence" method has already been tried and FAILED--to the tune of hundreds of millions of taxpayers' dollars! I'm eagerly awaiting your response... "

" Once again yikes stands up for the anti God, immoral gibberish spewed by Karl Logan. Now apparently, he knows my identity. Or thinks he knows. According to him there was a poster that spoke against Karl a few weeks ago, so that poster is me. With that logic, I also presume that the individuals that posted against Karl today are one in the same? Paranoid Mr Yikes? I have noticed you stand up for Mason and degenerates, that speaks volumes about your character Mr Yikes. Please tell us where you live, I would like to know if I should start a neighbor watch program to protect our kids. "

" After taking one look at your band's website, I'm CONVINCED that you have no real clue as to what's good for women, nor our interests at heart! Maybe Judy isn't right all the time, but I'd rather read her column than a bunch of hateful, opinionated fluff with no facts to back it up. At least I can look up what Judy's talking about and actually find something on Google! "

Yikes wrote on Oct 28, 2007 1:21 PM:

" I happen to agree with you regarding Judy Ducayne's weekly column, Karl. At best, it makes for a good bird cage liner. And, you shouldn't rack your brain over the comments of Zapped. In fact, if you think back a few weeks ago under a different post, you'll know exactly who the person is behind Zapped and it will explain it all. LOL "

" 'zapped"...man where do I start?! Oh I love the HYPOCRISY of people like you who are BLIND to your own ignorance because you make my "job" easy--to illustrate the TRULY PATHETIC, and more importantly, DANGEROUSLY MISINFORMED opinions of fools like you who would uncomprehendingly ally yourself with one who could only be described as one of the most despised and criticized columnists in this newspaper's history. I can only assume that you are as bigoted, ignorant, closed-minded and lacking in intelligence as Mrs Ducayne--or,...how are you related? And I'll bet you call yourself a "Christian" too! Thanks for helping me make my point about people of her (and YOUR)ilk! "
