MORAVIA - More than half a century ago, the Moravia Fire Department moved into new quarters on Main Street. Fifty-six years later, it still calls the old brick building home. Carol Bell, an organizer of a drive to raise $300,000 for a new fire station on Keeler Avenue says the facility is too small. The department needs room for two pumpers, a tanker, a rescue truck and a 50-year-old, semi-retired ladder truck. Tentative plans call for a 60- by 156-foot, one-story building with five bays, a banquet room, kitchen, equipment room and a radio room.

ELBRIDGE - Harry Monroe and his girlfriend are no longer with us. But some believe their troubled souls may still be present at Smart's Wayside Inn. While documentation can't be found, owner Mary Beth Smart said it is believed that near the turn of the 20th century a man named Harry Monroe died after falling - or being pushed - into the basement well, and his fiancee, Sara, supposedly committed suicide by hanging herself on the third floor. Investigating the paranormal at the inn Sunday were the Syracuse Ghosthunters - the husband-and-wife team of Kurt and Laura Schmidemann of Phoenix, and Jeannette Weibel of Fulton.
