HIT: To the welcome home event for the 222nd U.S. Army National Guard Military Police Unit after a year's service in Iraq.
We thank the 222nd for their devotion and service to their country, spending a year away from family and friends in a hostile environment. It's also tough on the families here, dealing with everyday life without their loved ones.
It was a great homecoming as the community showed their support on a rainy, cool fall afternoon.
MISS: To the case of three live trees on city property that were damaged allegedly by an Auburn man.
A chain saw was used to cut lines into the trunks, which will eventually kill them.
Police say the suspect, when asked why he was damaging them, said he just wanted them to stop growing.
It's bad enough we've had recent crimes of animal cruelty in this area, now trees?
Where does it stop?
HIT: To the beautiful colors as the trees hit their peaks of autumn.
Those 80-degree days helped keep the leaves green well into October but with a recent cooling off, we're seeing gorgeous reds, yellows, browns and oranges. It's a reminder of why living in central New York can't be topped - the change of seasons.
MISS: To anyone who fails to act responsibly while attending social gatherings.
This is the weekend for Halloween parties, so please remember, don't drink and drive.
The actions you take could affect someone forever. Make this a safe weekend, don't do something you might regret for the rest of your life, possibly from a jail cell.
