Library hosting a steal of a book sale
The Friends of the Seneca Falls Library will hold a fall book sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Saturday, Oct. 27, at the library, 47 Cayuga St., Seneca Falls.
The sale will feature new and used books (fiction/nonfiction for adults and children), tapes, audio books, records, software, CDs, games, posters and puzzles.
The price on the books changes by day. Today, hardcovers cost $1 and paperbacks 50 cents.
Saturday morning, all books will cost 50 cents, and that afternoon, they will be sold for $1 per grocery store bag.
Reference books and textbooks are free.

College night to inform students
Auburn High School in cooperation with the Cayuga Counselors' Association is sponsoring a fall Cayuga Area College night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Auburn High School cafeteria.
Representatives from approximately 90 colleges will be on hand to talk to students and their parents about their respective schools.
The program is targeted toward 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students.
Also information workshops will run concurrently with college night.
Workshops include financial aid, athletic eligibility requirements for college bound athletes, students with disabilities, and “Making it Count,” a look at college, career and leadership opportunities through the military.
Club to host evening of one-act plays
The Southern Cayuga Drama Department will present “Everything But the Kitchen Sink: An Evening of One Act Plays” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1, 2 and 3, in the high school auditorium on Route 34B, Poplar Ridge.
The show will include an original play by senior Vienna Farlow.
Tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and students kindergarten through 12th grade, and free for children under 5.
If an evening performance is canceled because of inclement weather, a matinee performance will be presented at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4.

Artist to open exhibit at reception
The Wells College art department will host an opening reception for the drawings and sculptural works of Jennifer Pepper from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, in the String Room Gallery, Wells College, Aurora.
Pepper is on the faculty of Cazenovia College.
Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in solo exhibitions and in more than 50 group shows since 1990.
The exhibit will be on display through Dec. 14. The event is free, and the public is invited.
Light refreshments will be served during the opening reception.
