The Syracuse men's basketball team was picked fifth in the 2007-08 Big East Preseason Coaches' Poll while junior guard Eric Devendorf was selected to the preseason All-Big East team.
Georgetown and Louisville are tied atop the preseason poll, Marquette was tabbed third and Pittsburgh is fourth.
Orange freshmen Jonny Flynn and Donte Green were selected Big East co-rookies of the year. Connecticut, Villanova, Providence, Notre Dame and West Virginia rounded out the preseason top ten.
Georgetown's Roy Hibbert was selected as the preseason player of the year.
Joining Hibbert and Devendorf on the preseason All-Big East team is Connecticut's Jeff Adrien, Villanova's Scottie Reynolds, Marquette's Jerel McNeal and Dominic James, Georgetown's Jonathan Wallace, Louisville's David Padgett and Terrence Williams, Providence's Geoff McDermott and South Florida's Kentrell Gransberry.
Syracuse has to replace its starting frontcourt from last season but does possess the conference's top recruiting class.
Center Arinze Onuaku returns after redshirting his sophomore season due to a knee injury. Josh Wright returns at point guard and sophomore Paul Harris is expected to have a big year at forward. Along with Flynn and Green, Syracuse's freshman class includes Scoop Jardine, Rick Jackson and Sean Williams.
