It was a family effort for the Southern Cayuga boys soccer team in the first round of the Section IV, Class C tournament at Tompkins Cortland Community College in Dryden on Wednesday. Players with the last name Rejman accounted for most of the scoring in the Chiefs' 2-0 win over 12th seeded Walton.
Adam Mandel scored the first goal on a pass from Tony Brown Rejman in the first half, giving Southern Cayuga a 1-0 lead at the half. Bill Rejman scored the next goal on a deflection from Tony Rejman to complete the win.

The defense was playing at a high level as well for the No. 5 Chiefs. Dylan Parmenter, Lewis Morse and Brian Littlejohn led a unit that allowed only three Walton shots - to their own 14. Southern Cayuga also had a 7-0 edged in corner kicks. Ed Richter had to handle the ball only twice in the net for Southern Cayuga.

“This was a good team effort,” Southern Cayuga coach Terry Underwood said.

Southern Cayuga moves on to play No. 4 Marathon in Marathon on Friday. The Olympians, at 13-3-1, hold the same record as the Chiefs. The teams played twice this season, the first game ending in a 0-0 slugfest. Marathon won the second meeting just a few weeks ago.
