HEAP seminar to be held tonight
People can attend a seminar on HEAP from 5 to 6 p.m. today at the Owasco Town Hall, 2 Bristol Ave. Assemblyman Brian Kolb will host the Home Energy Assistance Program seminar. People can sign up for the program at the meeting.
Police say Auburn man forcibly took $5
An Auburn man was arrested Monday and charged with a felony after police say he took $5 from another man.
Richard Eugene Hoag, 41, of 25 Delevan St., has been charged with fourth-degree grand larceny. Police allege that Hoag approached a man and asked him for money. After the man declined, Hoag reached into the man's pocket and took five $1 bills, according to the police report. According to police, he was charged with grand larceny because the money was “forcibly taken from the person of another.”
Bar group offering law clinic for seniors
The New York State Bar Association's Elder Law Section will sponsor a law clinic from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 27, at First United Methodist Church on South Street. Senior citizens will have the opportunity to spend up to 20 minutes with an attorney to discuss any legal issue.
Lewis Contiguglia, Earle Thurston, Robert Barry, Robert Bergen, Riccardo Galbato and David Tehan will volunteer their time. Space is limited and pre-registration is preferred by calling the Cayuga County Office for the Aging at 253-1434.
