The Weedsport Free Library will receive 10 percent of the sales at Applebee's between 4 and 9 tonight. Anyone who wants to dine at the restaurant and donate during that time can obtain a coupon from the library, 2795 E. Brutus St., Weedsport.

benefit Tyburn
The Knights of Columbus will host a ziti and meatball dinner to benefit Tyburn Academy from 4:30 to 7 tonight, at the Knights, 47 Market St., Auburn. The dinner will be catered by Balloon's Restaurant.
Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children 10 and younger. Take-outs are available. For more information, call 252-2937.
Haunted backyard taking canned goods
Canned food donations will be accepted during a haunted backyard and garage from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 26 and 27, at 3 Hannah St. Admission is $1, and proceeds will go toward gift certificates for the homeless shelter at Holy Family Church. Donations will go the St. Alphonsus Church food pantry.
The haunted backyard and garage were organized by Connor Cuthbert, 7, and Ailish Cuthbert, 5. They will also be serving spider cider and eyeball doughnut holes.

markets closing soon
The Auburn farmers market will close for the season by next week. Produce, including a variety of pumpkins, will be for sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Saturday and Tuesday, Oct. 25, 27 and 30, on Genesee Street between South Street and Loop Road. In addition to fruit and vegetables, the market features honey, cheeses, buffalo meat, fresh breads, cookies and whoopie pies.
Pasta dinner will benefit family
A pasta dinner will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Union Springs Fire Department Hall, Route 90, Union Springs. The dinner will benefit the Burnett Family who lost their Springport home to a fire last month.
A $10 donation includes raffles, door prizes, auction, pasta dinner and music provided by DJ Doug Derleth. Advance tickets are available at Cervo's News downtown and Westside Auto, Hardenburgh Avenue, both in Auburn and Jason's New York Pizzeria, Union Springs.

Traditional Korean meal to be served
A Korean cuisine dinner to benefit the Heifer Project will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 17 William St., Auburn. This dinner will feature a variety of Korean fair. Seating is limited to 50, and the price is $25 per person.
Heifer International is a nonprofit, humanitarian organization dedicated to ending world hunger and caring for the earth by providing livestock, trees, training and other resources to help struggling families around the globe. The goal locally is to purchase a $5,000 Heifer International “Gift Ark.”
