I was furious to read that Chad Hoffman is replacing LPNs with RNs, making RNs sound as if they are superior and give better care. I have been a nurse for 22 years and have dealt with mistakes that RNs have made
Once again supporting the war in Iraq and supporting the troops are two different things.

As a veteran wouldn't it be nice to see your name on a paver in the new Veterans Memorial Park.

Parents on Halloween night teach your children to say trick or treat instead of just staring at you.

Is Linda Murphy going to represent Mr. Fearon in the asbestos case because she agrees with everything he says.

On Oct. 28 the undefeated Auburn Vanguard competes. Let's hope The Citizen gives them full coverage.

Every committee that Ann Petrus has been on has failed. Time to get Annout and time to give someone else a chance.

If this society has only Britney Spears and Paris Hilton to offer us - we are in trouble.

The state Legislature has ordered Eliot Spitzer to enforce state tax laws on the Indians, but he refuses to enforce that law. How then does he believe that he has any right to order county clerks to enforce an illegal executive order?

" one cry for help -- then, are you saying that if you don't have long hair and play in a rock band, you have nothing else to do with your life but go out drinking? The irrelevant things people bring into conversations here at times are really amazing.... To be fair, on the subject of when you buy your beer -- my fella is, as can be guessed, a farmer. Until the cows were sold last spring, he was up every morning working by 4 AM, often earlier. 10:30 is lunchtime, and after 5 or 6 hours of serious manual labor on a farm, if a guy wants a beer, I don't think that's unreasonable. I personally don't drink beer, but to each his own -- it's just that 10:30 AM is not at all early for some of us who are regularly in bed by 8:30 PM. "

" I lived in Auburn for 35 years and I will retire there in a few years. I was not suggesting only drinking at home. I was stating that if you want to drink after midnight do it at home. I still have interests in Auburn and still refer to it as my home town. My goal is to change negative attitudes about Auburn. "

" For the most part I enjoy reading the comments that folks put on this web site. I've put a couple myself and even made mistakes in my comments. I try not to get personal, but after reading the stupid comments by (hmmmm), I've got to say that if (hmmmm) would just read the comments and not post any of his views he would not show how stupid he really is. This is not personal, just my opinon on some stupid comments. Have a nice day. "

" Brew must have had some bad experience in his/her life related to alcohol. Most people do not go out and get blitzed. Most people like to go out and have a few drinks to SOCIALIZE. Drinking at home is not a social activity and generally boring. "

" " It's bad enough the selling of alcohol ends at midnight"??? Jeezus, man--get a LIFE! I can't believe the amount of alcohol that gets sold and consumed in this town--you see people walking out of drug stores at 10:30 in the morning with CASES of beer! Really--don't you people have anything better to do with your money and your time???! "

" I look at what is said and can't think of why anyone would say RN's are better then LPN's Or NA's. I am glad to have you all around. I think the blame game is pretty infintial. Why just not be proud of what you do and support the folks who work along with you. The money is not always the reason to move up. If you like what your doing, its better to stay in a job like then be a money grubber and not like what you are doing. Wondertwin had it correct. Thank you goes a lot farther then trick or treat. I see a kid on my porch - dressed in a costume. I wonder what he is doing here on Halloween. Like one of the other post's state. Just turn your light off. "

Farmer's Gal wrote on Oct 25, 2007 7:57 AM:

" Why make it into a fight just because the Citizen published some dumb remark about LPNs and RNs? You're all in the same business together. I am sure there are terrific people with both qualifications, just as there have surely been incidents when persons with each qualification have made stupid mistakes others had to fix. We are all human, and having one degree or another doesn't make any of us better or worse. We see the same nonsense in libraries. I spent 15+ years as a library assistant -- support staff. Then I got my MLS and am a Libarian, as recognized by the ALA. But that doesn't make me a better person. I know very well that there are library professionals without the advanced degree who learn to do the work usually done by those with degrees just as well or better than some who do have the degree, and I have known librarians with degrees who were nasty incompentant people. So, put aside that way of thinking where you judge a whole class of people according to what degree they have or what formal qualifications for a job. Recognize that no class of persons is without screw-ups, but that every class of persons has good, competant people as well. How about all you RNs and LPNs focus instead on all the good things you do for your patients and put aside the counterproductive internal squabbling. I know I'd feel better going into a hospital knowing all the staff respect each other and work together well, rather than a hospital where the staff snipe at each other publically in the newspaper. "

" More important, parents, is to teach your children the TRUE meaning of Halloween--which is to embrace the glory of Satan and the Dark Kingdom. Sweets and treats are but lures to bring the young and impressionable into the folds of the Dark Lord, where service to his evil ways will reward the Faithful with undreamt-of riches and treasures in this lifetime! HAIL SATAN! (lets see how many nuts concur with that...?) "

" Part of the problem with Auburn is the obsession with drinking alcohol. You want to drink on the streets at music performances and you want to drink til the early AM hours. Drink at home and stop public drinking. I don't deny anyone the pleasure of drinking but keep it reasonable. "

" Why don't we discuss something of importance. I propose that the bars in Auburn/Cayuga County stay open until 3am. That's more important than the RN's vs. the LPN's. Its not much to ask for either. I promise to leave promptly, and not overstay my welcome. How's that? Now get to work everyone!! Oh yea, almost forgot--if the kid doesn't say "trick or treat" don't give them anything--they'll learn pretty quickly if they want free candy. I've got these really cute doggy doo treats for the rude ones--kinda chewy and nutty, you get the point. "

" To the person who critized the person who has worked as a LPN for 22 years. Sometimes there are reasons why people don't want to go on to be an RN. The biggest one is that the LPN's do most of the Patient Care. Besides it gives you a good feeling to know that you have given someone care to see them be able to return to home. By the the way I worked 25 years as a Nursing Assistant. I have much to be proud of. Let's not be so fast to find fault next time. "
