Cheerleaders move on to regionals
The Auburn Pop Warner Junior Midget and Midget cheerleaders competed this past weekend at the state qualifier in Rochester and successfully advanced to the regional competition in New Jersey.

The Pee Wee and Junior Pee Wee teams also participated in the event.

CCYO sign-ups set for Wednesday

Moravia CCYO basketball sign-ups are from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 24, at the Moravia Elementary School lobby.

Registration is for boys and girls in grades first through eighth.

Coaches are also needed.

Lacrosse program begins next week

The Auburn YMCA-WEIU is offering a learn-by-playing Youth Super Sports Lacrosse program for ages 3 to 5 and 6 to 7 beginning the week of Oct. 29.

The program focuses on skill development and provides the children with an individualized progressive introduction to the sport.

Practice sessions are active games. Rookies meet Saturday mornings at 10 and 11 a.m. for ages 3 to 5 and 9 to 10 a.m. for ages 6 to 7.

Participants must supply their own lacrosse sticks.

Fees are $20 for YMCA members and $40 for the general public.

YMCA now offering online registration

The Auburn YMCA-WEIU is now offering online registration for its programs at www.auburnymca.org.

Pasta dinner will benefit Pop Warner

There will be a pasta dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6 at the Knights of Columbus to raise money for Auburn Pop Warner cheerleaders and football players who travel.

Take-out and delivery are available.

There will also be a bake sale, a 50/50 raffle and other prizes.

Turkey Shoot at Salmon Creek

The annual Turkey Shoot will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, at Salmon Creek.

The shoot is open to the public.

All events cost $3.

Turkeys go to all winners. Sporting clays are closed for the day.

Track & field class begins next month

The Central New York Track & Field Officials Association is holding training sessions for new officials from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Nov. 7 and 14, at Canastota High School.

YMCA offering girls lacrosse league

The Auburn YMCA-WEIU is offering a seven-week girls lacrosse instructional league for girls ages 8 to 12 years starting Nov. 3.

The league will introduce participants to the game of lacrosse with emphasis on skill development, practice games and sportsmanship.

Space is limited so early registration is recommended.

The fee is $30 for Y members and $60 for the general public.
