Lecture to cover advance planning
“Advance Care Planning: Sharing Your Wishes” will be the topic of a free, public lecture from 7 to 8 tonight, in Auburn Memorial Hospital's auditorium, located on the hospital's lower level, 17 Lansing St., Auburn. Barbara Bowen, administrator of the Human Resources Coalition, and Michele Nolan-Bell, AMH director of quality management, will speak.
This lecture is part of the hospital's Medically Speaking lecture series. Reservations are not necessary, and free parking is available in the hospital parking garage.

A talk about “The China Study: Reducing Your Risk of Cancer, Heart Disease, Diabetes and Obesity” will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Skaneateles Library, 49 E. Genesee St., Skaneateles.
Cornell professor T. Colin Campbell, Ph.D. is the speaker. This talk is free.
Cancer support group to meet
“I Can Cope” Cancer Support group will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, in the third floor medical conference room at Auburn Memorial Hospital. The event is free, and free parking is provided in the garage; bring ticket in for validation.
Women get pampered at health event
All women ages 30+ who live in the area of northern Cayuga and western Onondaga counties are invited to participate in a “Pamper Yourself, Pamper Your Health,” a health and beauty event to be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 27, at Weedsport Jr.-Sr. High School.
The program provides the following health care services at no charge: blood pressure checks, diabetes screening, clinical breast exams, colon cancer test kits, and information on women's health. Free mammograms will be available at Auburn Memorial Hospital Tuesday, Nov. 27. Women with no health insurance or who are underinsured will be given first priority for breast exams and mammograms.
For “pampering,” the program will also include free manicures, massages, hair and make-up consultations, cooking demonstrations, refreshments, door prizes and give-aways. Child care will also be available.

Health department to hold flu clinics
The Cayuga County Health Department will hold flu clinics for adults ages 18 and older. No appointment is necessary, and there is no charge for people with Medicare Part B who bring their card. The department will bill Medicare Part B for the vaccine charges.
Those not covered under Medicare Part B will be charged $30 for a flu shot. Pneumococcal vaccines will be available for people with a doctor's prescription for $45.
Scheduled clinics include:
€ 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, First United Methodist Church, 99 South St., Auburn
€ 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, BOCES, 1879 W. Genesee St. Road, Auburn
