In spite of the brawl at the hall,( a title dubbed by Joker Hunter) in spite of the bickering, my city taxes have decreased. I appreciate the efforts to reign in the fire department. I also realize that Chief Quill is not the man we need as our next mayor. I honestly don't think we can afford him. Quite honestly, simply because Mr Quill has Mr Jacobs and Mr Mason working for his campaign, I refuse to vote for him. I am torn between Mr Dempsey and Mr Lattimore, both men have their individual faults but I believe both men deserve to be our next Mayor. Mr Yikes is a joke, by promoting more of the same old entrenched politics it is obvious he doesnt care about Auburn's future. "

" To address Mr. Dempsey's falsehoods stated in his Letter To The Editor of Oct. 22, 2007: 1.Mayor Lattimore's former secretary was paid "hush money" in exchange for her promise not to bring legal action against the city as a result of David Dempsey's inapropriate behavior.The city of Auburn has no such thing as a "severance package."Even if you worked 30 years for the city, the city has no "standard severance package" as David Dempsey would like the public to believe. 2.David Dempsey was "defending himself????!?" As far as sworn affadavits are concerned, Bob Hunter said he saw nothing and Bill Jacobs' testimony could not be considered credible.Bill Jacobs was still reeling from Tim Lattimore defeating him in the Primary and he has resented the mayor ever since.And who woke Tom McNabb up? The mayor came out of this with 6 stitches in his head and his eye bashed in after David Dempsey lept from his chair in a fit of anger lunging at Mayor Lattimore.After looking at the two of them, you don't have to be a brain surgeon to determine that David Dempsey exploded in a fit of rage. 3.David Dempsey quit AIDA because he is arrogant and cocky and was not getting what he wanted.He quit along with Cindy Aikman who has since shown what a lousy team player she is.She just quit her position with the city because she was asked to try her talents in another venue.They both believe in the old adage, "It's my way or the highway." Dempsey rants that he has 16 years experience in government.If the city's voters believe in prayer, they better pray that the reckless, often-immoral cad David Dempsey does not become our next mayor.Mayor Lattimore knows how to run this city with class.Mayor Lattimore is 500% devoted to this city.Only you, the voters can save us from this spoiled bully David Dempsey who keeps repeating the same lies hoping to convince us they are true.Only you, the voters can spare us from ho-hum Mike Quill, the candidate who will vote yes for everything and anything his friends at the Fire Dept. want.He has no new ideas to offer.He offers only negativity and criticism trying to deflect the fact that he is clueless about how to promote our city. We need to re-elect Tim Lattimore who is building partnerships and providing strong leadership and who is out there EVERY day among the people talking with them and taking a sincere interest in our well being.Mayor Lattimore knows the issues we face and has been working full time to lay the groundwork for a bright future for Auburn! " I commend Mr. Dempsey for a very well-written editorial explaining his actions. However, I think he may have some challenges trying to convince the Auburn electorate of his stellar performance during those 16 years in public office. The average citizen is outraged over the embarrassment that he, along with Mr. Lattimore, caused for this city. At a time when property taxes are out of control, sewer and water utilities are through the roof, the roads are an atrocity, the city housing stock in decline and the economy at an all time low, the very last thing people want to see is the personal bickering and insults constantly traded between these two individuals. Furthermore, I don't think it's a fair statement for Mr. Dempsey to suggest that because Mr. Quill has no political experience, he wouldn't do well at serving as mayor. I truly question Mr. Dempsey's reason of thinking. After all, didn't the voters give him an opportunity to serve them 16 years ago when he had no political experience or record? With all due respect for Mr. Dempsey and his many years of public service, I believe the citizens of Auburn are ready to bring integrity and moral values back to City Hall. "

" Sadly, I am sure the campaign of smear tactics will continue on until election day. The point of this election should be not to focus about the past. Two of Three of the candidates have made and admitted to their mistakes. The third is hiding behind others to do his negative speaking. We have all made mistakes in life, that is part of being human. The difference is that somepeople admit, learn from and avoid making the mistakes again. The focus of this election should be on who is the best man to lead Auburn back to a place of prosperity. While I believe his intentions were good, Mr. Lattimore's original campaign goals were not reachable or achievable. Mr. Lattimore has had his chance to effect change and to date has not been able to effect enough change to make a difference. Mr. Quill has no true "record" of elected service and is backed by the Good Ole Boy network that has been on the outside the last few years. Hasn't Auburn had enough of government by and for the few and by and for the people? He is coming across as a puppet candidate for a party that is not supporting a candidate that served them well for several years due to personal differences. Mr. Dempsey has the most experience in public service, has an excellent business sense and has a vision for the Auburn Community that is both believable and achievable. He is being grilled by his former party as damage control because despite the lack of the party's backing the people of Auburn are beginning to realize he is the best man for the job. Voters ask yourselves: Who is the best person for the job? Who will bring both vision and experience to City Hall? It's time for that change, vote for a NEW VISION with an EXPERIENCE Leader, Vote for David Dempsey! "
