Citizen Soldiers from the 222nd Military Police Company will return home after participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The state Army National Guard soldiers arrived at Fort Dix, N.J. to conduct demobilization tasks. They will arrive home in Auburn and Hornell on Tuesday, after 14 months of training or deployment for the mission.
Auburn leaders request residents to line Genesee and South streets to welcome the nearly 60 members home. The unit is predicted to arrive between 3 and 4 p.m. Tuesday at the state Armory on South Street.
Only family members will be at the armory, so supporters are encouraged to stand along the streets to greet the unit. People can pick up flags from Auburn city hall or Congressman Michael Arcuri's office on Genesee Street.
Family members put yellow ribbons on trees, posts and fences along the estimated route. They ask people to bring signs, banners or flags.
The military police soldiers conducted a variety of convoy security and military law enforcement missions in and around Baghdad.
