The thank you letter

I received a thank-you note this week for my columns!
How nice! I write my “stuff,” wondering if anyone out there will be reading it.

Will they agree or disagree? Will they perhaps be helped by something I've said?

Or will they get an idea to help them through the day? Well, possibly!

What counted was that someone had enjoyed reading “Gray Power” enough to let me know! (I called her at once to express my pleasure and thanks.)

“Feedback!” It is very nice to get.

When a child performs well on stage, Grandma, attending in the first row, of course makes a special phone call that evening. Other relatives are there with a pat on the back. Such gestures can make a child's day.

Yet, it seems to me that best of all is receiving a special “thank you” card in the mail, or a hand-written note, with compliments and comments on a performance.

That can mean a lot, letting the performer relive the event through the eyes of another person.

I keep note paper and stamps right there in the middle drawer of my desk for such occasions.

And off they go!

It's such an easy way to let folks know they're appreciated.
