Two Cents

To the people who buy services, go on trips and cruises, buy big ticket items such as snowmobiles and four-wheelers and then go bankrupt because they don't want to pay the bill afterward - it's called stealing! It's the hard-working, bill-paying consumer that gets stuck with the bill.
After the recent school shooting, I think there should be an all-out effort to stop the bullying that goes on in our schools. Think of how many lives it could save.

Who leaves their car in front of the hotel in Aurora? It is against the law to have any stickers in your car of any sort except the registration and your inspection sticker.

In North Carolina, pig farms down there are no longer a farm; they are a business enterprise and they are regulated as a business. They pay to dispose of secretions six times that of a human being every day and they are a hazard to the ground water.

This is amazing: Michael Vick is being prosecuted for having dogs fight. These type of dogs are a vicious menace - they are banned in Canada and England - yet week after week we read in the paper where someone was viciously attack by these dogs.

The majority of the town of Cato agrees with the town board regarding the Meridian Fire Department. They have had years to get it together and can't get it done.

" There's nothing libelous in this message -- all the things below are documented, and aside frompublic figure Pleasant Rowland, no person is named. How come it wasn't posted yesterday? ##### What dink thinks you can't have stickers on your car?!?? Hey, kiddo, we have something called Freedom of Speech in this country (just barely, but we still have it). The owner of that car is using creative ideas to bring to light the very good reasons why many people in Aurora are very unhappy about all the grief that Pleasant Rowland has brought to our community while shoving her vision of a picture-postcard village down our throats. A friend of mine visiting Aurora for the first time recently commented that he expected a bell to ring and all the Stepford wives to reach for their pills. The Pleasant supporter who stuck a knife in each of that car's tires is a perfect example of why people object -- in Aurora, it's Pleasant's way or the highway, and if you don't fit the image she wants to project, she'll do all she can to see you are run out of town. Soil her OWN hands with this work? Not a chance -- she pretends to back out and let's her lackeys do the dirty work. Meanwhile, she recently purchased yet another piece of property in Aurora -- so don't think you've seen the backside of her yet. "

" Point me where it says stickers are illegal on your car except for your inspection sticker and registration, then maybe I will believe your garbage. Why do people post random crap and don't even know half the law? If you have tinted windows legally, you need a sticker in your window. "

" Why didn't this bipartisan newspaper mention the new tenant that may be coming to the Bombardier Plant. A factory that makes windmill parts is interested in the site. May bring up to 400 jobs to Auburn. This might be a feather in Lattimores cap that nobody wants us to know about especially at election time. Great Job Tim if its true. "

" I am not one to agree with taking rights away from MOST people but I think that the sex offenders should NOT have a right to be anywhere that involves children. That is like putting a tall, cold beer in front of a "reformed" alcoholic. "

" If it is illegal to have any other sticker than inspection and registration stickers then why do they give stickers out for parking passes? Colleges, theme parks, landfills, camp grounds.... etc. All of those places give you some sort of sticker that must be placed in a window in order for it to be honored. "

" Great posts by all and there really isn't much to recap today. I guess I'll take this opportunity to chime in with my own two cents. I've always been a firm believer in equal opportunity for all Americans in this great country. However, as of late, there appears to be an entire group of Americans who aren't given equal opportunity by the federal government to pay their fair share of taxes in subsidizing new health care programs for children. I like to refer to this group of people as the habitual "heart attack in a sack fast-food patrons". I'm not sure why, but instead of the government looking to a larger pool of resources to help fund these programs, they continue to go back to the same old well and tax tobacco again and again and again. I'm not disputing the tax on tobacco, it should be taxed. However, with heart disease being the leading cause of death, perhaps there are other areas of equal opportunity taxation as well. Here's an idea to ponder. How about a $1.00 federal tax on every fast-food order? I think that would be fair for the first year and then raise it an additional 50 cents each year thereafter until every child in America under the age of 18 has health coverage. I don't have a dream or anything like that but I believe between us tobacco junkies and the fast-food junkies of the country we can begin changing the face of America one child at a time. "

" I will address the crap one at a time: I agree, I agree, I love stickers on cars, so if you don't like them, don't put them on your car, pigs smell like crap, pit bulls aren't vicious dogs--their owners are, when you mix the word Cato up, you can spell taco (MMMMMMM). Did I get them all Karl, or are you busy writing crap for the readers. "

" The full page add supporting our Maroons Football Team was great!!! GO MAROONS!!! I think we owe at least that much if not more to our local unit from the Armory coming back from Iraq. The winning football team was welcomed home with a police and fire escort. Our soldiers deserve that much of a welcome home - well actually they deserve more - c'mon Mayor Lattimore and Auburnians - show your support and thanks!!!!!!! "
