Lack of caring is what's hurting this country

Thursday, October 18, 2007 9:44 AM EDT

God bless America? For what?
For being a nation of speeding, careless, reckless and inconsiderate drivers? For not caring about matters that should be cared about, namely health care for all and livable wages?

For not standing up to the corrupt government that's supposed to be representing our best interests and doesn't? For not taking God's commandments seriously?

For lack of speaking out by clergy who preach about doing the right thing, yet fail to fault government for its gung-ho war-like ways towards other nations and its do-nothing ways towards it own citizens.

For politicians who have shown themselves to be blind and brainless followers to the obvious truth and too gutless to show any backbone?

For the fact that only the ultra-wealthy can run for high office and those who aren't, can't?

For saying that we are one nation under God when as a nation overall we have more often done the works of the devil? For not standing up to our political leaders and letting them know we're sick and tired of being completely ignored?

For allowing ourselves to live in fear and not having faith in God to protect us?

Following political leaders who say they will, by lies and deceit?

No, we're not being blessed for blindly being led astray. The bottom line is that our lack of caring and concern as to what's right and what's wrong, along with our unwillingness to step up to the plate to make our voices and concerns heard loud and clear, in large volumes by those in power needs to be changed abruptly.

When the wrongs start to be righted and we all become better concerned with what's right in the world, then and only then, will God be blessing America. If not enough of us make the effort, it's not going to happen. Doing the works of Jesus needs to be done by all Christians always.

" BRAVO!, Chris! For once I agree wholeheartedly with EVERYTHING you just said! "

" Thanks for explaining it to me Brew...Fox news is the root of all evil! "

" Yeah, Fox News is terrible, nobody really watches it anyway. Oh wait, they have some of the highest tv ratings and most viewers, so how can that be. Hmmm. And what's that? The liberal Air America is bankrupt after only a year and has few listeners? Veddy interestink. Fox doesn't sensationalize anything any more than any other news channel, it's done across the board. And sticking your head in the sand and not thinking about evil acts and threats won't make them go away, no matter how hard to try to convince yourself of that! We need to hear about these things, they should be pushed on the news. I'd call a terrorist blowing himself up on a bus pretty sensational (not in a good way), wouldn't you? Sheesh! "

" And all this evil in mankind started this week? Human kind is good and evil. History does not show us as a good nation that turned bad. We are not enslaving a race anymore, we are not committing genocide on a race anymore. If you look at our history, we are an enlightened society and we are getting better, but evil will always be there. The difference is the sensationalism of evil acts and evil threats perpetuated by Faux News and right wing conservatives. Watch an hour of Faux news and you will be depressed about the state of life. " Instead of Christians doing the works of God, why don't we teach humans themselves to do the kindness of human-KIND. Why limit that mandate to Christians? Why separate that wish/requirement by a religious group or creed? THAT'S what is, in a large part, wrong with this country--and ESPECIALLY in the last 7 years! Murray, in your admirable intentions, you miss the real cure to what ails ya by failing to see ALL of Humanity as being bound by the requirements of kindness and compassion. It ain't a "Religious thang"; it's a HUMAN thing! "
