State police release names of victims
New York State Police officially confirmed that Ronald J. Redmond, 30, and his father, Ronald C. Redmond, 52, both of Elbridge, were the two men killed in a one-vehicle accident in Elbridge Sunday. State police also said Wednesday that Ronald J. was driving the 1996 Ford F-150 pickup truck at the time of the accident.
According to officials, the vehicle was heading south on Kester Road when it drifted off the west shoulder and struck a concrete culvert. The vehicle then hit a tree before it overturned onto the driver's side and came to rest across the roadway, police said. The truck then caught on fire and was extinguished by Jordan fire personnel.
Investigators could not estimate the speed the vehicle was traveling at the time of the accident, as no tire marks were left at the scene. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, police said.
