AUBURN - Auburn police are currently investigating an attempted robbery that occurred Monday morning.
According to the Auburn Police Department, officials were alerted at 6:15 a.m. that a man had entered the pharmacy at Walgreen's, 150 Grant Ave., demanding narcotic pain killers from the pharmacist on duty. The man told the pharmacist that he was carrying a gun, though no weapons were displayed, police said.

The clerk refused to give the man any painkillers before attempting to call police, officials said. After he prevented the pharmacist from making the call, the man fled the store in an unknown direction.

No drugs were obtained and no one was injured, according to police.

The suspect was described as a white male, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8-inches tall, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. Auburn police ask anyone with any information to call 253-3235 or 255-4726.

" Cut the guy some slack for trying to rob a drug store?!? Heres an idea, apply for assistance for health care. Thats what they are for. Some over the counter drugs work pretty good on your back too. Been there and used them. Other than that find a job that gives you benefits, I mean McDonald's isnt going to pay for free food and insurance!!! "

" Another innocent victim of society living in a failed health care industry. Let's just say for the sake of argument that you're walking down the street at 6:00am when something flies over head. Your initial reaction is to look up and think, it's a bird, it's a plane, but just before you get out the words it's superman, you realize it WAS a bird. The next thing you know, you're in the middle of main street doing the Texas Two-Step trying to get the droppings out of your hair and in the process you wrench your back which is very painful. Now, you know you don't have health insurance so you don't want to go to the hospital. You don't have a dime to your name so you can't afford a prescription anyway. Perhaps this gentleman was in the same situation and the pain became intolerable. Sheesh, cut the guy some slack. "
