AUBURN - Auburn police are currently investigating an attempted robbery that occurred Monday morning.
According to the Auburn Police Department, officials were alerted at 6:15 a.m. that a man had entered the pharmacy at Walgreen's, 150 Grant Ave., demanding narcotic pain killers from the pharmacist on duty. The man told the pharmacist that he was carrying a gun, though no weapons were displayed, police said.
The clerk refused to give the man any painkillers before attempting to call police, officials said. After he prevented the pharmacist from making the call, the man fled the store in an unknown direction.
No drugs were obtained and no one was injured, according to police.
The suspect was described as a white male, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8-inches tall, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. Auburn police ask anyone with any information to call 253-3235 or 255-4726.
