AUBURN - The Ruth Polson Public Service Award was
presented to Minturn Osborne, CEO of Auburn Cablevision, at the 39th annual Meeting of the Finger Lakes Library System on Oct. 15. The Ruth Polson Public Service Award is awarded to the person or persons who have demonstrated leadership in the field of librarianship or have worked to advance library services within the five counties served by the Finger Lakes Library
System. The award is named for Ruth Polson, of Ithaca, a founding member of the Finger Lakes Library System.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation in Cortland has received at least half a dozen calls over the past month about an elk sighted in Cayuga, Tompkins and Cortland counties. From the location and timing of the sightings reported to the DEC, there may be as many as three elk roaming the area.
