Union Springs CCYO sign-ups are tonight
Union Springs CCYO basketball sign-ups will be held from 6 to 8 tonight, at A.J. Smith Elementary School.

Participants must be in the Union Springs school district and in grades second through eighth.

Youth League annual meeting is tonight

The Moravia Youth League will hold its annual fall meeting at 7 tonight, at the Moravia fire hall.

All coaches and those who are interested in coaching next year are encouraged to attend.

Union Springs to honor donors

The Union Springs Central School will be acknowledging all the donors who contributed to the purchase of a sound system for the main athletic field at halftime of the following athletic events: the girls varsity soccer game today, and the varsity football game on Oct. 20.

The official dedication will take place Nov. 26 during the district Board of Education meeting.

Still openings for St. Mary's CYO

St. Mary's is looking for cheerleaders and basketball players to compete in its second grade through seventh grade rosters.

D-days title trophy to be on display

The Auburn Doubledays' 2007 New York-Penn League championship trophy will be on display from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Bass Pro Shops in the Fingerlakes Mall in Aurelius.

Fans can come to the front vestibule and have a photo opportunity with the trophy, along with team mascot, Abner.

There will be sales of Doubledays' merchandise to commemorate the championship.

Boeheim to honor Alberici at dinner

The athletic community will welcome Syracuse University Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim, Doug Logan and Mike Hopkins to help honor Gino Alberici at the annual Knights of Columbus Sports Banquet Thursday, Oct. 18, at Sacred Heart Parish Hall.

Turkey Shoot at Salmon Creek

The annual Turkey Shoot will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, at Salmon Creek.

The shoot is open to the public.

All events cost $3.

Turkeys go to all winners. Sporting clays are closed for the day.

Track & field class begins next month

The Central New York Track & Field Officials Association is holding training sessions for new officials from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Nov. 7 and 14, at Canastota High School. Attendance at both classes is required.

Muzzleloading class set for Nov. 3

Bass Pro Shops Sportsman's Center will conduct a Black Powder/Muzzleloading Redhead Outdoor Skills Workshop on Saturday, Nov. 3. Students can learn basics and advanced techniques of black powder and muzzleloading.
