The shaky scrawl of a hand weakened by illness and hunger told today how death came to the lonely cavern of a Canadian World War Officer who had turned hermit. Capt. J. Edouard Goulet of Quebec City died of hunger and exposure in the darkness of a natural cave where he had lived for two months near the village of Bic. He was about 50 years old.

AUBURN - Children's Health Specialists have met all the criteria for laboratory accreditation by the Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation, an international health care organization. Accreditation is given only to laboratories that apply rigid standards of quality in day-to-day operations, demonstrate continued accuracy in the performance of proficiency testing, and pass a rigorous on-site laboratory survey.

Agway Inc., now reorganizing under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, paid hefty bonuses to several of its top executives even as the cooperative was losing millions of dollars. The DeWitt-based cooperative, owned by 69,000 farmer-members in the Northeast, filed for bankruptcy on Oct. 1, citing liabilities of $1.51 billion and assets of $1.57 billion. Donald P. Cardarelli, Agway's president and chief executive officer received a bonus of $332,008 in fiscal 2001 when Agway reported losses of $8.9 million.
