Kalet Building has been handled poorly

Sunday, October 14, 2007 12:11 AM EDT

The Kalet family lived high on the hog while running the store.
When downtown ceased to exist, they apparently chose to quit paying taxes and the city took over the property.

No one is going to buy it because it is a dump now. Then the city spends a huge sum of money to try and save the building when that should have been done by the Kalet family.

Let the fire department do a controlled burn to get rid of the problem or make the Kalet family spend some of the money they made when it was a high-priced store pay to tear it down.

I don't understand why so many people get away with not paying their bills. Property taxes not paid, parking tickets not paid, water bills not paid and nothing is done about it.

Someone at City Hall is not doing their job. Time to get rid of the dead wood.
