Civil service workers backing Budelmann

County civil service employees will back candidate Jon Budelmann in the race for Cayuga County district attorney. CSEA Local 1000 Central Region 5 has endorsed Budelmann in the upcoming election.

In a written statement, union president Ginger Sheffey said the endorsement reflects the union's “confidence in Budelmann's proven ability ...”

Budelmann, the Republican candidate who is currently the county's chief assistant district attorney, is running against Michael Bass.

Scouts conducting yearly popcorn sale

The Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts from Cayuga County Council of the Boy Scouts of America are conducting their annual sale of Trail's End Gourmet Popcorn.

Local Scouts will be going door to door until Oct. 18 taking orders for popcorn products.

Customers will have the option this year of ordering additional popcorn products for the troops fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Trail's End Popcorn Company is working directly with the Department of Defense in coordinating delivery to the troops. Call 252-9579 to place your order.

Pizza Hut night supports pantry

Pizza Hut is supporting the Calvary Food Pantry by sponsoring it for a night of fundraising Wednesday Oct. 24. The fundraiser will be held from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Pizza Hut at 374 Grant Ave., Auburn. Diners are asked to inform the checkout clerk that they are supporting the food pantry, so Calvary Food Pantry will receives credit for their purchases.
