Author to read excerpt at CCC event
Michelle Wildgen, author of the 2006 novel “You're Not You,” will read from her work at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Cayuga Community College, as part of the college's continuing visiting writers series.
“You're Not You” traces the bond between a woman who suffers from ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease, and the college student who becomes her caregiver on a whim. Wildgen's fiction, personal essays and food writing have appeared in The New York Times, Best New American Voices 2004, StoryQuarterly and other journals. Her visit to Cayuga is sponsored by the college's Humanities Division with support from Poets & Writers, Inc., and funding from the New York State Council on the Arts.
This event is free and open to the public.
Russian vocal ensemble to perform
Con Anima Vocal Ensemble, a six member ensemble from St. Petersburg, Russia, will perform folk, spiritual and classical songs in the Russian Orthodox tradition at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 17 William St., Auburn.

Wells to present ‘Twelfth Night'
The Wells College Theatre Department will present Shakespeare's “Twelfth Night” as this fall's student drama production at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19 and Oct. 20, in Phipps Auditorium, Macmillan Hall. There will also be a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday, Oct. 21.
Several Wells College students play lead roles: June Lesney '08 is Olivia; Zach Dickie '11 portrays Orsino; Viola, disguised as the man Cesario, is played by Sarah Bonawitz '11; Viola's brother Sebastian is played by Ryan Addario '10, and Lindsey Cahoon '09 is Feste the Fool. Additional students are cast in supporting roles and make up the crew.
Costume design is by adjunct professor Bobbie Kolpakas. The play is directed by assistant professor of theater Siouxsie Grady; Natalie Kemper '10 serves as assistant director, and lights and set design were produced by Wells technical director Joe DeForest.
Tickets are $3 for students and children, $5 for senior citizens and the Wells community and $7 for the general public. Tickets are available from the box office this week and at the door the night of the performance. To reserve tickets, call 364-3456.
Fort Hill to begin guided tours
Collin Sullivan and Laurel Auchampaugh will conduct guided tours of Fort Hill Cemetery at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21. The tour will start at Bradley Chapel, 19 Fort St., Auburn.
Visitors will view the gravesites and learn the history of these important members of the community: Jerome “Brud” Holland, Dr. Sylvester Willard, Martha Coffin Wright & Eliza Wright Osborne, Allen Macy Dulles, William H. Seward, Theodore W. Case, John H. Beach and Harriet Tubman.
Admission is $5 per person. Advance sale tickets will be available at the Community Preservation Committee office located at Willard Memorial Chapel, 17 Nelson St., Auburn. Tickets will also be available at Bradley Chapel on the day of the tour.
