Thank you to Auburnians who died in Vietnam War

Friday, October 12, 2007 9:42 AM EDT

Upon visiting the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. this weekend, I learned that it was 40 years ago this month that we lost two Auburnians from my neighborhood.
The first was Donald Ryan (of Camp Street) on Oct. 10, 1967 and 12 days later John Rhodes (of Osborne Street).

They were just two ordinary guys from an ordinary town who made an extraordinary sacrifice and did not get to live ordinary lives ... sometimes life just isn't fair. This is just a heartfelt and grateful thank you to them and their families.
