Fishing a favorite pastime
Each Friday, The Citizen features someone in education from the Finger Lakes community in The Banks: This week, we spotlight Jeffrey Evan Rosenthal.
Q. What is the most rewarding part of being the director of the Academic Support Center?
A. Supporting and encouraging students and staff and having the opportunity every day to improve the lives of others.
Q. What is the most challenging?
A. Not having the resources needed to meet the diverse needs of students.
Q. What was your most embarrassing moment?
A. Coming to work on a holiday.
Q. What is the part of your day you could do without?
A. There's really nothing I would eliminate. Every day has its own unique qualities. Every day is an opportunity to do something positive.
Q. If a student is trying to get on your good side, what would they need to do?
A. Visit the Academic Support Center. Chocolate also helps.
Q. Kids say the darndest things. What is the funniest question a student has ever asked you?
A. “Am I supposed to be here?”
Q. School year: Too short, too long or just right? Why?
A. Just right #) Cayuga offers college classes throughout the year on-campus and online. Students determine their schedules #) they can take classes anytime they wish.
Q. If you weren't directing the Academic Support Center, what would you probably be doing? What would you like to be doing?
A. Traveling around the world; fishing.

Hobbies: Boating and fishing on Cayuga Lake and watching the New York Jets and the New York Mets
