Political debates to air on TV tonight
The second in a series of local televised political debates will air tonight.
County Legislature District 3 candidates David Axton, of Port Byron, and Thomas Weed, of Throop, will answer questions from a panel of media representatives at 7 p.m.
A second forum for District 6 candidates Terrence Lattimore and Roger Mills, both of Owasco, will be broadcast at 7:45 p.m.
The debates will be taped at Cayuga Community College and aired on Channel 12.
The forums will also be available at www.auburnpub.com starting Friday.
Human rights group names acting leader
The Auburn Human Rights Commission appointed Fred Richardson as its acting executive director. Richardson will continue to work as chairman.
He will not receive a salary for the position.
Richardson serves as executive director of the Booker T. Washington Community Center, and also serves on the boards of the United Way, Auburn Education Foundation, Cayuga Home for Children, Auburn/Cayuga NAACP and East Hill Family Medical.
The Human Rights Office is open by appointment on Monday and Wednesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 17 William St.
