Perhaps the most high-profile elected state official will be making a stop in Auburn this weekend.
Gov. Eliot Spitzer is slated to speak at a political fundraiser being held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Sunset Restaurant on North Division Street.
The gathering will benefit Cayuga County Democrats running for public office.
Campaigns by Michael Bass for district attorney and Michael Quill for Auburn mayor top the list of races that include town, city and county offices.
Democratic Committee Chairwoman Katie Lacey said Spitzer and U.S. Rep. Michael Arcuri are touring upstate and became available to make appearances in Auburn.
It will be the first Cayuga County appearance by Spitzer since he was elected in November 2006. “We're happy and thrilled to have him,” Lacey said, adding the state Democratic Chairwoman will also be on hand for the fundraiser.
Tickets are $25 or two for $40.
A limited number will be available at the door or by phone at 253-0283.
