A Manlius man died at the hospital the morning after he was involved in an one-vehicle crash in the town of Brutus.
State police on the state Thruway are investigating the Monday night crash. The man, whose name is being withheld until family is notified, complained of chest and head injuries after his vehicle drove off the Thruway and ended up in a Brutus field at 8:20 p.m. Monday, state troopers said. He was transported to Upstate Medical Center University Hospital in Syracuse.
He was driving eastbound on the Thruway, past the Weedsport exit, when the car crossed into the westbound lanes, hit a guard rail, traveled down an embankment, and came to rest in a field on the side of the highway.
State Police are investigating the cause of the crash. They are awaiting autopsy results to discover if his death is connected to a preexisting medical condition or complications from the accident.
