Mrs. James A. King delightfully entertained last Friday evening at her home on Osborne Street at a variety shower in honor of Miss Mary Footre, who is to be an early November bride. Games and music were played after which light refreshments were served.

MONTEZUMA - Town Supervisor John Giardina, in his eighth term and seeking a ninth, has been honored for his leadership. In September, Giardina was among 330 elected officials nationwide to win an American Hometown Leaders Award. Along with the prestige, the award will add $1,000 to the town's coffers.

AUBURN - Hoping to start some preliminary construction early next year, city officials want to hire an engineering firm to design the long-awaited connector road to link North Street and Grant Avenue. At Thursday night's City Council meeting, councilors plan to discuss awarding a $240,000 contract with Om Popli Consulting Engineers of Rochester to design the new road that will cost nearly $4 million. City officials decided to go with Om Popli after interviewing three other firms.
