St. Mary's is looking for cheerleaders and basketball players to complete its rosters for second through seventh grade.

Boeheim to honor Alberici at dinner

The athletic community will welcome Syracuse University Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim, Doug Logan, and Mike Hopkins to help them honor Gino Alberici at the annual Knights of Columbus Sports Banquet Thursday, Oct. 18, at Sacred Heart Parish Hall.

Union Springs to honor donors

The Union Springs Central School will be acknowledging all the donors who contributed to the purchase of a sound system for the main athletic field at halftime of the following athletic events: boys varsity soccer game on Oct. 9, the girls varsity soccer game on Oct. 12, and the varsity football game on Oct. 20.

The official dedication will take place on November 26 during the District Board of Education Meeting.

Turkey Shoot at Salmon Creek

The annual Turkey Shoot will be held on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 9 a.m.

The shoot is open to the public. All events cost $3.00.

Turkeys go to all winners. Sporting Clays are closed for the day.

Track & field class begins next month

The Central New York Track & Field Officials Association is holding training sessions for new officials on Nov. 7 and 14 at Canastota High School from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Attendance at both classes is required.

Auburn 700 golf tourney is Oct. 14

The Auburn 700 club is hosting a golf tournament at 11:30 a.m. Sunday Oct. 14 at Lakeview Golf & Country Club.

The format is two-person scramble and will cost $50.00 per player.

One player needs to have bowled a 700 series and $5.00 club dues will be collected.

Contact Dennis O'Donnell to sign up for the event at 252-1939 or 224-2412. All players must arrive 30 minutes in advance to register.

Final CYO sign-up is Sunday morning

St. Alphonsus Church CYO is holding their final registration for basketball and cheerleading for boys and girls in grades second through eighth on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 10:45 a.m. following the 10 am Mass.

Registration will be held in the Rev. C.W. Gardner Parish Center at 89 E. Genesee St. behind the church.

There is also a pancake breakfast Sunday from 8 to 10 a.m., at Applebee's Restaurant to raise money for a new scoreboard. Tickets must be purchased prior to the event and are available from players and at the rectory.

Muzzleloading class at Bass Pro Shops

Bass Pro Shops Sportsman's Center will conduct a Black Powder/Muzzleloading Redhead Outdoor Skills Workshop on Saturday, Nov. 3.

Students can learn basics and advanced techniques of black powder and muzzleloading.
