At LaFayette Hills Country Club on Thursday, the Auburn boys golf team won the Section III qualifier over Baldwinsville. In a field of 65 players, Ryan May shot a 72 to lead the Maroons to victory. May shot one over par and placed as a medalist in the tournament.
Frank Murtari shot a 76, as did Bob Dushatinski. Sean Hogan carded a 77, and James Cutillo scored 83. May, Murtari, Dushatinski, and Hogan qualified for the Section III tournament in May at Seven Oaks Golf Course in Colgate. In order to qualify for sectional play they had to keep their score under an 81.
Also scoring for the Maroons were Anthony Siracusa (84), Tim Daniels (86), and Steve Dec (94).
“It was a complete turnaround compared to overall play on Wednesday. They all played well.” Auburn coach Tony Locastro said.
