Police said a dispute between a mother and daughter over a hamburger ended with the mother being slashed with a box cutter.
Auburn City Police charged Chelci E. Ricks, 17, with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon after responding to 78 Wall St. Wednesday afternoon.

Police said Ricks refused to share a hamburger with her mother, tentatively identified as Margarita Ramirez, and that Ramirez was slashed when she raised her hand in self-defense against a box cutter wielded by Ricks.

Police said Ramirez refused medical treatment and was somewhat uncooperative with police. Police said Ramirez may have initially provided a false name and that her true identity was still under investigation Thursday afternoon.

Ricks was arraigned in city court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail without bail.
