Skaneateles cross country's Rachel Hosie takes an early lead during Wednesday's dual meet with Hannibal and Jordan-Elbridge. The Skaneateles girls team hasn't lost a dual meet since 1992.
It was the 92nd and 93rd straight dual meet wins for the Lakers dating back to 1992.

Pacing Skaneateles was Alexis Mazzeo in third (20:49), Christina Homeyer in fourth (20:54), Kristin Roberts in fifth (21:16) and Beatrice Walton in sixth (21:28).

For Jordan-Elbridge, Nicole Stroud was second (20:01), Carly Stroud finished seventh (21:51) and Allison Donahue finished 10th (22:35).

In the boys meet, Skaneateles' Sam Smolenski set a new Polo Grounds record, finishing first with a time of 16:28 as Jordan-Elbridge defeated Skaneateles 23-36 and the Lakers defeated Hannibal 18-40.

“He finished the first mile in five minutes and hit the two-mile mark in 10:40 and that was mostly an uphill mile,” Lakers coach Jack Reed said.

Jordan-Elbridge's Jeff Donohue was second (16:39) and Cody Stanton was third (16:52).

Calvin Davis came in fourth (17:13) for the Lakers.

The Eagles' Mike Marrero was fifth (17:35), Donato Direnzo was sixth (17:41), Greg Bader was seventh (18:05) and Tom Poppe took eighth (18:07).

Skaneateles' Jeff Cregg finished ninth (18:35).

“The Eagles are getting better,” Reed said. “They're going to be tough down the road. They'll put up a good fight at sectionals.”
