Youth soccer day at Union Springs
There will be a youth

soccer day beginning at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Union Springs High School.

The boys varsity soccer team will host Auburn, and all youth soccer players from the Union Springs Soccer Club who wear their summer soccer jersey will receive a prize.

CCYO sign-ups are Oct. 6 at YMCA

CCYO Basketball registration for boys and girls grades two through eight will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Auburn YMCA.

New players need to bring a copy of their birth certificate.

Cost of the program is $55 and practice begins in November.

Bowling hall of fame dinner is Nov. 10

The local men's and women's bowling association will be holding its Hall of Fame dinner Nov. 10, at the Sunset Restaurant.

Three-man scramble at Dutch Hollow

The Dutch Hollow annual Three-Man Scramble Golf Tournament will be played at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Dutch Hollow Country Club.

The tournament will be a shotgun start.

YMCA hosting girls lacrosse league

The Auburn YMCA-WEIU is offering a seven-week girls lacrosse instructional league for girls ages 8 to 12 years starting Nov. 3.

The league will introduce participants to the game of lacrosse with emphasis on skill development, practice games and sportsmanship.

Space is limited so early registration is recommended.

The fee is $30 for Y members and $60 for the general public.

Baseball tourney in Cooperstown

The Blue Jays Baseball Club will be holding an end-of-summer tournament near Cooperstown for teams ages 13 and 14, on Columbus Day weekend, Oct. 6, 7 and 8.

They are also holding high school and summer tournaments in 2008.

Fitness centers holding food drives

Calvary Food Pantry has been allowed to hold a Food Drive at three fitness centers for the whole month of November.

The following fitness centers are hosting this event: the Swartz Fitness and Health Center at 190 State St, Auburn; the Finger Lakes Health Center, 2116 W. Genesee Street, Auburn; and the Champions For Life Center, Grant Ave., Auburn.

Boeheim to honor Alberici Oct. 18

The athletic community will welcome Syracuse University Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim to help them honor Gino Alberici at the annual Knights of Columbus Sports Banquet Thursday, Oct. 18, at Sacred Heart Parish Hall.
