Abby Valentino scored on a one-on-one with Southern Springs goalie Katie Smith with 7:30 left in overtime as the Auburn field hockey team defeated Southern Springs 2-1 on Monday.
Valentino scored the regulation goal for the Maroons and Carrie Nash had one assist.
Sarah Reece finished with five saves.
For Southern Springs, Molly Clifford scored on an assist from Elizabeth Rollo. Smith finished with nine saves.

Sean Driscoll scored three goals and Andrew Dean added two goals for the Chiefs.

Lewis Morse and Brian Littlejohn played well and shut the door defensively for the Chiefs.

With the overall score tied 3-3, Sam Bruno and Jamie Bruno needed two tiebreakers to win fourth doubles 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-4) and give the Maroons a dramatic victory.
Also winning for Auburn was Claire Minnoe in first singles (6-4, 6-1), Delaney Scollan in second singles (6-1, 6-1) and Hailey Roth in third singles (6-0, 6-2).
Auburn (7-2) travel to play Liverpool Thursday.
