Two Cents

Could the people that live on the corner of Holley Street please bring your puppy in so that the rest of us could get a little peace? All he does is cry, poor thing.
Political correctness is ruining both America and the media and it's now affecting sports.

When signs and fences aren't enough to discourage trespassers, get a disposable camera from the supermarket and start snapping pictures every time you see a trespasser in daylight, and get a motion detector spotlight that turns on at night if someone is on your property.

Jump on the BASSwagon - vote Mike Bass for Cayuga County District Attorney. We like Mike.

Mike Quill means no more fights in City Hall. Need I say anything more.

Giving licenses to immigrants: After 9/11, Spitzer is more interested in future votes than the people of New York state which he was elected to represent. I think it's time to start impeaching.

Two days this week you've had very large articles and pictures of the Skaneateles swim team. But, what about pride of Auburn, the Auburn High School swim team?

Two senior citizens in Venice Center have been without water because their pump broke down and the well went dry, they're 91 and 90. Would someone step up?

" I agree jump on the bass wagon. Mr. Bass is the right man for the job. Everyone should write in Cherry Love-Duncan's name on the ballotg in place of Mr. McNabb. "

" While many of us have chosen the anonymity of non name user IDS for this blog, some of us have left ourselves open by using real names. While I have had 1st hand experience w/the rock star arrogant ego for many years, an old saying 'u get more flies w/honey rather than vinegar' applies. Its not what u say, as I really do agree w/your views for the most part, but rather its how its stuffed down ones throat that puts the dander up - myself to blame. We are all neighbors here and share more than we care to admit. Just food for thought. "

" Boonhopper: I will check out your info site, please check out this one -- The Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund. If no one in your local group fighting the hog CAFO in Montezuma has been to Democracy School, it's time to send someone. Those factory farms with their "constitutionally protected" environmentally destructive practices have been driving family farms out of business for many years. One by one, they have been winning against The People for a long time -- now we need to go to the root cause of the problem. Google the CELDF and let me know if you are interested in hearing more about it. "

" Why not try dealing with issues instead of personalities? You sound like a bunch of kids at recess going back and forth with insults. I will throw a zinger at someone when ever I get a chance but I drop it after a couple of exchanges but you people just don't stop. Many of you sound like good volunteers for your community. My question is why do Auburnians just whine about conditions of public areas and just cry that it is the cities fault? We all know the city has a tight budget, None of you are willing to pay more taxes and I don't blame anyone for that feeling. The city has to deal with increases in utilities, health care, fuel costs and unfunded mandates of the Bush administration. Why don't neighborhoods band together and have clean up days. These can be fun and you meet neighbors you never knew you had. You get Dunkin Donuts to donate some coffee and donutz. Get Pizza Hut to donate a few pizzas for lunch and have a clean up day at the neighborhood playground or park. If you need some playground equipment have fundraisers and ask local merchants and businesses to help. If you need paint or lumber ask Home Depot or Lowes to help. Answer me why this doesn't happen every weekend? Don't just blow off this letter to insult Karl one more time. Go ahead let me hear your negative Auburn answers. "

" Yeah L! You don't know us. I volunteer for Meals On Wheels and the local Fire Dept. Auxiliary, buy tons of school supplies for needy kids, and always get clothing, coats, hats, gloves, and Christmas presents (even a tree w/decorations) for needy families during the winter! I also take in homeless pets and re-home them when I am able. So think before you speak. Many of us do volunteer and also speak our mind. "

" You're welcome farmers gal for yesterday! I am not sure how her dad will take it-hopefully it doesn't ruin your friendship. But as a parent, I would want to know. Where I live we can take away our child's license by a visit to DMV until they are 18. DMV makes it clear to the 16 yr old as the parent signs the consent form. It made for a good threat, but I never had a drastic/speeding reason to follow thru. We added our own set of driving rules-if they were not followed we parked the car. It is more embarrassing to them to have their Xmas present sit in the drive-way and get razed by friends when they arrive at school via school bus! "

I am considering sending your girl flowers just out of pure sympathy. "

" I can tell Auburn is a depressed community. Some people need to go and get jobs instead of complain on the 2 cents forum. How about just shutting up and using your time to volunteer in community? Try making a difference for a change. "

karl L wrote on Oct 2, 2007 3:14 PM:

" cm, now you're even surpassing your own level of hypocrisy and stubborn stupidity--you cut-n-pasted that post from YESTERDAY'S "two cents" so that you could continue the argument here? You're pathetic! I saw it in yesterday's this morning, and posted an appropriate response. Anyway, I think that by your actions today you are abusing the privileges of this forum. This post belonged in the "Letters" section as a reply to my editorial letter anyway, and you obviously are too psychologically unstable and emotionally attached to getting a "last word" to see the inappropriateness of your actions. I will take the high road in this case and not bore the rest of the posters by answering, and therefore continuing, your nonsense. You have in any case proven yourself to be incapable of conducting an intelligent debate and I am finished with you....next? "

" Factory Farming Is Destroying Family Farming! Whatever happened to the family farm? The government is encouraging farmers to build huge factory farms (CAFOs), cramming animals into buildings, and ruining the land around them. Check out www.askfarmerbrown.org. Don't let the Swine Factory Farm be built in Montezuma! Keep the FAMILY FARM from going extinct! "

" Karl --all you do is get your info from a psychological BS-YOU condemn us for "researching" info, yet you copy a magazine/movie. I am a person who loves Facts, I have yet to meet someone who thought they could BS me and get away with it. You asked me to read some of the Books and I have-I see YOU also pick-n-choose, what YOU think to be true-still condemning others for picking their line out of the Bible. 83% in prison may well be "born-again Christians"-I believe about half truly are-the other half is looking for a way out, to kill again. I gave you the "Santa" belief 2 months ago. Santa and the spirit of X-mas lives in our hearts along with faith in GOD. Jesus DID exist as man who preached about Christian morals. "
