HIT: To the wonderful evening of entertainment that was the annual Harvest of Sound field band competition Saturday night at Holland Stadium in Auburn.
People who attended this event, hosted by Auburn High School's band, The Vanguard, have been effusive with their praise.
Seeing all of the talented musicians and performers was wonderful, but it was especially exciting to have The Vanguard place first in its division.
MISS: To the passing of the Rev. John J. Nacca, former priest at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Auburn.
For more than three decades, Nacca guided the Clark Street church and he also served as a spiritual leader for the entire community.
The local lives he influenced for the better are too many to count.
HIT: To St. Francis reaching its 100th anniversary.
The church held its rededication Mass on Sunday, the latest in a series of events to commemorate the centennial year.
Kudos go out to all the church members who have worked so hard to make this a memorable year at St. Francis.
HIT: To the Community Preservation Committee, which just wrapped up a series of events designed to illuminate some of the local history in Auburn.
A walking tour of the historic South Street neighborhood and a program at Seward House on Victorian tea were featured on Sunday.
The committee and all the volunteers who put this program together deserve our gratitude.
