Help stop the crime surge in the county
If you've noticed that the streets of Auburn have gotten meaner lately, you're right.
The state Division of Criminal Justice Services has released a report on crime statistics that is a wake-up call for Auburn and Cayuga County. The findings show that statewide violent crime was down 6 percent in the first half of 2007. At the same time violent crime in Cayuga County was up 73.3 percent.
That is a huge increase. It also showed that the overall crime actually showed a decrease of 5.6 percent for Cayuga County. But when you stop to think about it, is it really all that surprising?
