‘I love helping people find what they need'
Each Monday, The Citizen features someone from the Finger Lakes community.
This week, we spotlight Barb Nash.
Q. What is the most rewarding part of your job?
A. I love answering questions all day and helping people find what they need to do projects.
Q. What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
A. Learning all the merchandise we carry and its purposes. A.C. Moore has more than 67,000 items.
Q. What would be your dream job and in what part of the world would you be working?
A. Raising dogs and horses on a ranch in Wyoming.
Q. What's the best way to relax after a tough day?
A. Spending time with my family.
Q. What do you like most about living and/or working in the Finger Lakes region?
A. I like that it's a small town but has big city aspects. You know people because it's a small town.
Q. If you had the choice of meeting any three people in the world who would they be, and why?
A. My uncle Stuart, because he died before I was born. Pope John Paul, I thought he was almost too good to be human, and Cary Grant, for obvious reasons.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A. I don't think past today, so I don't see myself in 10 years.
Q. If you were to win the lottery tomorrow, what's the first thing you'd do?
A. Take care of my parents.
Q. What would people who think they know you be most surprised to find out about you?
A. That I really am basically shy.
Q. If you were mayor or supervisor of your town/city, what's the first thing you'd change?
A. I'd put the high school back in the city. It seems, when we went from three high schools to one, that the high school kids got pushed aside and put in that one building so far from the heart of the city.
Q. Do you have any special plans for the next few months?
A. Gearing up for Christmas. It should be a very busy year at A.C. Moore, and I expect to see everyone in town here.
