Plume to return for BOCES event
A familiar face will make an appearance at the Cayuga-Onondaga Board of Cooperative Educational Services' dedication of their new Regional Education Center on Saturday.
John Plume, former superintendent of the Auburn Enlarged Central School District, will speak during the ribbon cutting ceremony slated for 3 p.m. on Saturday, said Kent Brandstetter, president of the BOCES Board of Education.
Last week, the board received an update on the forthcoming dedication ceremony during their monthly meeting.
New York State Commissioner of Education Richard P. Mills will give a presentation during the dedication as will board vice president Russ Riddell. A BOCES student will also speak to onlookers.
Langler decision expected soon
The civil service hearing for a suspended Cayuga County Sheriff's lieutenant has concluded and a final decision is expected within a few weeks.
Lt. James Langler was suspended this spring following allegations he used his position to grant promotions and privileges in exchange for support of incumbent Sheriff Rob Outhouse in the 2006 campaign.
Outhouse lost the November 2006 election to David Gould.
A hearing officer listened to testimony this month, but a final decision will be delayed while officials finalize transcripts and organize other documents, according to Randy Ray, the county's labor attorney in the matter.
The Section 75 civil service hearing provides due process to employees involved in disciplinary matters.
