Self-described candy-holic works part-time at bakery
In honor of Active Aging Week this week, The Citizen is spotlighting seniors in our community.
Today we speak with Lucy Cacciotti.
Q. What is the one food you cannot live without? Why?
A. Pasta. It's very fulfilling, and it seems to give me a sense of home, because I grew up with pasta.
Q. What is the best way to get a fellow senior to get active?
A. It's all about attitude. You have to consider life as an adventure and adapt. I like to write; I think it's a wonderful way to express yourself. Education through the written word is a valuable achievement.
Q. What do you like most about living and working in the Finger Lakes region?
A. I like the three seasons, but winters I don't like. I like the change, but the snow limits driving and getting out. But the hunters and the skiers like it.
Q. If you were given $1 million to open your own restaurant or bar, describe the bar or restaurant and what type of food you would serve.
A. I'd like to open a really nice place for breakfast. It would be homey and comfortable. It'd be a place where people can sit and have breakfast at a good price but with all the accoutrements to go along.
Q. Do you find living in a senior center helpful when it comes to being active?
A. This place is amazing. The activities and services they offer are an ideal situation for someone who needs extra help.
Q. What is your favorite junk food?
A. Candy. I like all kinds: licorice, chocolate, juju beans. I'm a candy-holic; I love sweets.
Q. If you could meet any three people in the world, who would they be and why?
A. My husband again, and my parents.
Q. What is the best way for you to relax?
A. Music. I love opera, classical music and some contemporary music as well.
Q. Ughh. What's the one food which you absolutely can't stomach? Why?
A. I like all foods. I have nothing that I can't stand.
