The story on Colleen Campbell in the Sept. 9 paper made me proud to know her and realize what a truly special person she is - kudos Colleen. How about some of the other cosmetologists stepping up to the plate and helping her out, for something that affects us all.
Cato Town Board, what is happening behind closed doors? Remember you have neighbors in the Meridian area that vote.

Cayuga County may prevent a future lawsuit if the highway department supervisor would instruct his employees to stop using the Terrain King mower to attack trees in residential yards. A limb of my maple tree was causing no problem, but the chunks of wood scattered all over my lawn will be a danger to both the lawnmower and the operator.

My car narrowly escaped getting sideswiped by a gigantic moving van turning onto Standart Avenue from Route 34. What is the status of the debacle of John Walsh Boulevard?

Please create a left turn only lane on Route 34 North as it intersects Genesee Street.

The Genesee Beer sign downtown reflects poorly on our community's values. Could The Citizen please reprint the story they wrote on it recently, and hopefully this will implore our officials to take down this hideous piece in our landscape.

" Hey Gloria, someone is trying to do something about the area around the Y Field and you complain. Stop whining about conditions at the Y Field and get your butt out there and do something. Get a neighborhood group out to spruce up the park area and put a little paint where needed and quit whining about what the city is doing. They have a tight budget and the taxpayers are saying cut, cut, cut. It's your park so get out and help clean it up. Ask not what your city can do for but ask what you can do for your city. "

" Mr. Fletcher is trying to re-coup some of the money he invested in that building. He tried for a long time to sell the place, but nobody wants it. It's too bad, because it does look a lot better than it did. Also a shame about the people that stole the stained glass out of there when nobody was looking, and nothing was ever done about it. "

" It's a neighborhood watch meeting for the area around the Y-Field. Not for the Y-Field itself. We feel there's a need for a neighborhood watch in this area. "

" I didn't know this community had values. I look at the Genesee Beer sign as a landmark, something from the past. A left turn is not necessary at that intersection. The whole stretch of road of North Street from Genesee to the Aterial need a better light system than the one that is currently in place. I don't know how many times I have to avoid these intersections because you can waste 20 minutes. "

" I just received a notice of a neighborhood watch group meeting, for the Y-Field Area. Wow, I always thought that's why We have a Clubhouse attendant. They live there with Low Cut Rent and Other City Benefit's and WATCH Over the Y-Field, am I wrong? Well after 20 plus years living in this Area( Y-Field) it has HIT a ALL Time LOW!!! Yes, something needs to be done NOW!! The place has really become rundown, and unbearable,Thanks City Council's Past. I don't EVER feel comfortable with my grandchildren there!!!!! "

" Karl, why do you think that is feasible? Maybe because they KILL HOMOSEXUALS, it is an abomination to ALLAH. Why do you think that there are none or very few reported cases of rape? Maybe it is because without multiple witness's the female is guilty of enticing the male and is publicly flogged and or beheaded "

" Funny, Columbia University won't allow ROTC to speak there, but just let Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadickwad to speak freely. Karl, why are you critizing your Iranian ally? Don't you know they're rooting for Hillary? Liberals leaders have a lot in common with Iranian leaders in that they both want to destroy our capitalist society. That's why Columbia University welcomed Mahmoud with open arms and screened out tough questions. "

" I'm confused how and why Mr. G. Fletcher got [or being considered] a grant for his property on North Division St. even though his original request was refused to conduct a business which required parking which is not available on his property. "

In my opinion wrote on Sep 24, 2007 3:01 PM:

" replies to Karl L.......There are already 3 lanes at the W. Genesee St./Columbus St. intersection. One for turning left and two for going straight. If you checked it out you'd probably see for yourself that most people seem to be turning right. There can be six or seven cars in the rightmost lane waiting to turn right behind one car going straight, while there are only one or two cars in the middle lane going straight. And I'm not that impatient to wait a few seconds - the MAIN flow going right would flow better and not gum up W. Genesee. "

" After all the fuss over not being able to drink on the street at a concert, I think the beer sign is very representative of Auburn's values. "

karl L wrote on Sep 24, 2007 1:39 PM:

" Geez, people--where are they gonna put all these extra lanes? Just to save a few seconds? Those damn one-way lanes cause MORE problems than they solve, and if you change it now you're only gonna muck up the MAIN flow! "

In my opinion wrote on Sep 24, 2007 1:29 PM:

" ......they should also make a right turn only lane on West Genesee Street at Columbus Street going west.....There are often several cars waiting to turn right on Columbus held up by one car at the front wanting to go straight. They could be in the next lane over, go through the light and then move into the right lane. "
