Wells College's new science building will soon officially open its doors.
Anne Wilder Stratton '46 Hall, the newest member of the Wells College community, will officially be dedicated at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29.
The hall is named for the Wells alumna who donated more than $9 million to help the college reach its fundraising goals.
The dedication is part of a series of celebration events that begin on Thursday, Sept. 27, and run through the weekend.
The celebration includes: a talk and book signing by best-selling writer Sue Monk Kidd, author of “A Secret Life of Bees” and “The Mermaid Chair,” at 7 p.m. on Sept. 27; Science Colloquium presentation by Dr. Margaret “Peggy” Pericak-Vance, Wells class of 1973, director of the Miami Institute for Human Genomics and professor at the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 28; open house and multidisciplinary demonstrations throughout Stratton Hall by Wells faculty and students from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 28; keynote address by veteran science correspondent Ira Flatow of NPR's “Science Friday,” at 3 p.m. Sept. 29; and the official ribbon cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. Sept. 29.
