After working under three titles this year, Christopher J. DeProspero resigned as treasurer of Auburn on Friday.
He did not give notice, leaving staff members scrambling to cover the position, city manager Mark Palesh said.

DeProspero did not give a reason, he added. He quit Friday afternoon and left the same day. DeProspero was hired at Cuddy Financial on William Street.

Calls to DeProspero's home were not answered.

The women working in the treasurer's office and Comptroller Lisa Green will pick up the slack until Palesh hires find a replacement.

"We opened it up internally last time and we hired someone we thought was a good fit," Palesh said.

DeProspero replaced Marie Nellenbeck when she quit late in the summer.

" Obviously, this person was not a good fit.To up & leave giving NO notice or explanation is not a reflection of the department but a refelection of poor character, lack of good judgement on this person's part & lack of effort on the individual's part ot learn what goes with the position he was lucky to get.Good luck in the future Mr. DeProspero-Hope you never need a recommendation! " There is obviously something wrong with the work enviroment within the position. Seems managment has got some issues here and need to look within themselves to come up with better solutions for this ongoing problem. Or Auburn needs to find a better manager over this position. "
